Team Parent Information

So you volunteered to be Team Parent.  Now what? The following information will get you on the right track so do not worry. You will find the time you put in for volunteering as Team Parent rewarding and fun.

Generally speaking, the Team Parent’s duties and responsibilities are to do the administrative tasks for the team which will allow the coach to concentrate on coaching, the players and team development.

TEAM PARENT MEETING - Attend the Team Parent meeting and receive all the information you need to pass onto the coach and parents.  We will provide you with all the information needed to be the liaison and facilitator of all league activities.

MAKE A TEAM ROSTER - Make a list of the players, include their name, parents' name, telephone numbers and emails.

MAKE AN AFTER GAME SNACK SCHEDULE - Once you get your game schedule, pick a team player that will be responsible for bringing snacks that day.  The players really appreciate and enjoy these snacks and refreshments after a game.  NOTE: Please make sure to check with parents' to make sure their child does not have any food allergies.

EMAIL PARENTS - At your first team meeting, obtain each parents' email address and send out a "Hey I'm the Team Parent" email as soon as you can.  You will need to always keep parents informed of what's going on with the team as well as with the league.

TEAM FEES - You will need to come up with a budget and ask families for team fees.  The team fees can be used for the team banner, uniform lettering, yearbook dues, coaches’ gifts, etc. You should keep a very organized spreadsheet of what money has been collected and how it has been spent.  Make sure to keep all your receipts.

UNIFORMS - You will need to distribute uniforms to the players as soon as possible.  The league provides the player with a jersey, hat, pants, socks and belt.

TEAM BANNER - You order the team banner for your team. Although this is optional teams historically have gotten them.

PICTURE DAY - You will need to pass out the picture order forms and inform the families on your team of your scheduled picture time on Opening Day. There is also a team roster to fill out for Picture Day.

YEARBOOK DUES - You will need put coordinate collecting yearbook dues. This can be collected collectively as a team or you can coordinate getting a company to sponsor your team.

TEAM PARTIES - You will need to organize and plan an End of the Season party for your team.

Don't feel like you have to do this alone...

You can absolutely delegate some of these duties to other parents on your team who are willing to help!
